Clubs & Activities:
NSL: Calling all of North’s Student Leaders- please mark your calendars for Tuesday after school from 2:30-3:30pm.  We need all hands on deck to help to set up for the Honor Roll Breakfast in the gym.  We will need help with tables, chairs, placemats, centerpieces and name cards.  Please plan to come to help out for an hour on Tuesday after school.  Your help is much appreciated!
 
Athletics:
Swim & Dive Team: The North swim and dive team starts on Tuesday, February 21. Anyone interested in participating must have all forms and fees turned into the office before they will be allowed to practice.

Basketball: Attention all 7th and 8th grade boys basketball players, all players from both teams are to see Coach Park in room 131. All Players need to bring 5 dollars, after you paid you will receive your conference championship shirt, along with information about meeting the school board on Monday February 27th at 6:00 PM. See coach Park in room 131.  
 
Volleyball: Congratulations to the 8th Grade Volleyball Team on their win against Badger Middle School. Kady Stigler and MacKenzie Landolt dominated with serving and attacking. Ashli Cegielski led in digs and Emma Schoenauer led with blocks. It was a great match played by all. The team plays again on Tuesday, good luck in your next match.

The 2017 Jr. Indian’s Cheer season is beginning and we are looking for new members!
The cheer program is open to all students entering 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade in the fall of 2017 who attend school in the Menomonee Falls School District. There are no try outs, all are welcome! The cheer season starts in July and goes through November.
Participants will be taught cheer fundamentals, motions, proper stunting and spotting techniques.  Cheerleaders will learn sideline and group cheers; the importance of discipline, commitment, self-confidence, teamwork and working in a “pod” will be emphasized.  However, the most important goal of the club is to have fun! Participants will cheer at Jr. Indian’s football games and perform a routine at halftime of a varsity football game and at MFHS Indian Invite Cheer competition.
Anyone who is interested please join us for an informational meeting on  March 14th at 7pm at the Menomonee Falls Public Library (located in the youth program room)

Congrats to Veronica Goveas who placed first in the CESA 1 Regional Bee on Monday night.Veronica will complete at the Wisconsin State Spelling Bee in March.  Way to represent North Middle School!

Congratulations to the 8th Grade Volleyball team for their sweep against Kennedy Middle School last night, winning all 4 games. Serving 5 in a row were Anna Wattenbach and Mackenzie Landolt. The team played well together completing several three hits in a row. Leah Groholski led the teams with 4 digs and Emma Schoenauer led the team with 4 hits. The team plays at home again on Thursday at 3:45, come on out and cheer them on.

Students awarded an Honorable Mention, Gold Key, or Silver Key attended the annual Scholastic Art Awards – Wisconsin Awards Day on February 11. Gold and Silver Key winners have their artwork on display at the Milwaukee Art Museum through the end of March, 2017. Congratulations to all and we hope you can get the to Art Museum to view the amazing artwork.

Teen Center Glow Dance: This Friday, February 10 the Teen Center will be hosting a Glow Dance Party starting at 6:30 pm till 10:00 pm at the Menomonee Falls Teen Center.  DJ Dylan will perform the top 100 hits, plus glow games, raffle prizes and more.  The cost is $3 for residents and $5 for non residents.  For more information check out the flyers posted around the building or the website. Wear White and Glow on!

Volleyball: Congratulations to the 7th grade girls volleyball team!  The Falls defeated West Bend winning 4 out of 4 games.  Abbie Stigler, Olivia Hoffman, and Kyle Biello dominated in serving.  Setter, Claire Gibson assisted attacks for Brooke Robinson and Maddie Seiberlich.  Great leadership was led by Isra Ahmed and Morgan Frederick.
 
Volleyball: Congratulations to the 8th Grade Girls Volleyball Team for their win over the West Bend Badger Red Team last night. The team went 4 and 0 with 10 kills, 6 kills, and eight 5-in-a-row serves. Serving 5 in a row were Anna Wattenbach, Audree Ciganek, Mya Gersmeyer, Alyssa Ryckman, Ashli Cegielski, Jaelyn Patrick, and Brynn Mitchell - twice. Way to go Lady Indians!

Optimist Club: Looking for something to do on your day off?  The Optimist Club is sponsoring an Essay Contest.  The topic is, "Chasing Optimism in the Face of Challenges".  All you need to do is prepare a 700-800 essay by February 1st.  Cash prizes awarded.  Pick up more information and the registration sheet by Mrs. Wolfe's room 135.
 


Geography Bee: Don’t forget to sign up in your social studies class for the Geography Bee qualifying test. The qualifying test will take place during flex on Wednesday, January 18th in the cafeteria. The top ten scores, along with ties, will then qualify for the Geography Bee competition on Thursday, January 26th after school from 2:45-4:15 in Mr. Cox's room.

Basketball: Great job by the 8th grade basketball team beating Slinger last night 36 to 17. This brings our season record to 10 and 0.  Great performances by all the players and good job supporting each of your teammates.

Outstanding Library Books: We are off to a busy start in the library media center—we have had over 8,200 books checked out since the beginning of the school year!  Currently we have 2,124 books in the hands of our students, but right now many of them are overdue.  As we approach the end of the first semester, it is our goal to get the books renewed if you haven’t finished reading them or get them returned. Thanks for your help and keep on reading!
 
Community:
North Middle School PTSO will be hosting a fundraiser at Chipotle on January 12 from 4-8 pm.   A percentage of the sales with go to North’s PTSO.
