Athletics:
The track season has come to an end … before their long weekend our conference athletes competed hard at conference.  The boys team ended up in third place and the girls team ended up in second place.  As a team we had many athletes who placed and even athletes who broke school records! Great season!! All track athletes please check schoology for end of year banquet information.

Tennis had a match last Thursday against rival USM. This match had many implications...lose and drop down to the dreaded 2nd place position or win and be declared conference champs and live in infamy! The team is now living in infamy as they won by a score of 5-2. Congrats to the whole team for putting a 7-1 record this year. With being named conference champs the team was also rewarded as coach of the year honors for coach Johnson. Runner up was another tennis coach, coach Born. There must be something in the water down by the PE department because it seems they just keep winning awards. Coach Ball and coach Ish tried to appeal the awards from Johnson and Born but shortly after that was denied. It seems like giving players the day off when the conditions were too poor to practice was the key to success this year. The tennis team can only hope the track team can follow in their footstep next year. Also, be sure to come out and cheer on Conner Kryscio, Izak Roscher, Zach Boerner and Devyn Barker in the mini team conference tournament today at 4 o'clock.

The A tennis team had a match this past Friday against St.John Vianney. This was a rematch from last Monday when they beat them by a score of 4-3. It was a new day but same ending result for the team, winning by a score of 4-3. Matt Diestlehorst and Jack Morril got the team on the right track by a convincing 9-3 win at the three doubles position. Shortly after, the two doubles team of Daniel Otchere and Ben Hilbelink won by a score of 9-5. The team dropped the next three matches. Conner Kryscio would get the win at one singles by a score of 9-3. It all came down to the number one doubles team of Devyn Barker and Zach Boerner. They again had to finish the match in a tiebreak where they would be victorious 7-4 bringing the team to a 5-1 mark this season.

The Maroon tennis team had a tough day yesterday on their home court. Not only did they lose a close match 3-4 to Whitman, but Coach Born sliced his finger open on the metal tin of tennis balls before the match had even started. Things kept on getting worse, as stratus clouds formed, the temperature decreased and the constant rain fell, making the court almost unplayable. That line was for you, Mr. Tamas...Anyway, singles players Brittney Boreson, Nadia Kamara, Arisa Ferguson, and Jackson Lipski all won their match.  Wins also came from doubles partners Katie Lockwood and Amiah Marshall-Johnson, Mario D'Antonio and Chase Wagner and George Wasef and Aiden Kilbourn. Currently at the halfway point of the season, the 3 headed tennis coaching monster of Johnson, Born and Crownover are still at the top of the leaderboard for "Spring Middle School Coach of the year." The track coaches however, are making a strong push to surpass them. It should be an interesting 2nd half of the season. Stay tuned."

North Middle schools Silver Team had a close loss against Whitman White on Tuesday. Wins came from Abby Anderson, Katie Prange, and from doubles, Hayden Fox & Ronni Hebbring, Delaney Doffek & Bella Harthun, and a nail biting tie breaker win by Gracie Haensgen & Chloe Synor. Outstanding matches also played by Delaney Doffek, Rohan Baru, Johnathan Haugstad, and doubles teams Bella Harthun & Aiden Bell, John Rock & Colton Volz, Krithika Senthil & Gemma Crownover. Great job to the whole team! Veteran coach, third runner up for coach of the year, North Middle School Alumni, and prom court (potential prom queen) Elena Crownover did a mediocre job coaching considering how she had to wipe the cobwebs off and remember how to play a tiebreaker. She may be the best looking coach but she has a lot to learn from ex-pro legend Coach Born and second runner up Coach Johnson.

Tennis: The A tennis team pulled off a big come from behind victory against St.John Vianney yesterday. The team went down 3-0 to start the match with three well played matches. That's when they started their come back. A win at one doubles by Izak Roscher and Conner Kryscio by a score of 9-3 got the team started. Shortly after, Isra Ahmed won her 4 singles match 9-5. Not to be outdone by their teammates, Daniel Otchere and Dylan Nadolski picked up a big 9-3 win at 3 doubles. It all came down the the number two doubles team of Devin Barker and Zack Boerner and they did not disappoint. It was a close match all the way through but the tandem won in a thrilling 13-11 tiebreaker to clinch the match. Also winning on the day was Ben Weiss by a score of 6-1 and Kira Weaver by a score of 6-4. With talk of coach of the year in the air Mr.Johnson doesn't crack when under the pressure and keeps his lead in the polls.

Arguably, Braveland Conference’s most talented track coach, Coach Ball, has seen some ups and downs this season, as North Middle School’s track split the meet 2-2 against Highway 41 rivals, Germantown.  Both 8th grade teams hurdled the competition, with the 8th grade girls winning 75-39 and 8th grade guys winning 65-49.  However, 7th grade teams could not clear the bar last week Thursday, as the 7th grade girls succumbed to the Warhawks by a margin of 46 to 68 and the 7th grade guys were narrowed out 51 to 62.  If the 7th grade teams are unable to turn their seasons around, coach Ball faces the possibility of being usurped by long and triple jump coach, legendary Mr. Ferch. If any track athletic have a captain application,  please bring to room 239 at this time.
